Jimmy Glotfelty
Jimmy Glotfelty — a former energy company official and former senior advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Energy — has been appointed to the Public Utility Commission of Texas.
Gov. Greg Abbott announced the new PUC appointment on Aug. 6. Mr. Glotfelty’s term will expire on September 1, 2025.
Previously, three commissioners led the PUC, but after a change in law this year the agency now is set to have five members. Mr. Glotfelty joins PUC chair Peter Lake and fellow commissioners Will McAdams and Lori Cobos. Ms. Cobos was appointed to the commission on June 17. One seat remains open.
Mr. Glotfelty, a Houston resident, is the former Director of Government Solutions for Quanta Services, former Founder and Executive Vice President for Clean Line Energy Partners, and the former Managing Director for ICF Consulting. Additionally, Mr. Glotfelty was the former Director of the Office of Electric Transmission and Distribution and a Senior Policy Advisor to the Secretary of Energy for the U.S. Department of Energy, according to information provided by the governor’s office.
Mr. Glotfelty also is a board member for ConserveAmerica and has participated in the Aspen Institute Energy Forum, Harvard Energy Policy Group, and the Keystone Energy Forum. Additionally, he is a former member of the White House Task Force to Streamline Energy Permitting, and former committee chairman of the Greater Houston Partnership. Glotfelty received a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Marketing from Texas Christian University.
