Morgan Johnson, the deputy general counsel for the Office of the Governor, has been appointed to serve on the Public Utility Commission, with a term set to expire on September 1, 2031.

Ms. Johnson, who also previously served as senior counsel to the commissioner of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law. Additionally, Ms. Johnson was an attorney at McGinnis Lochridge L.L.P.

She now joins fellow commissioners Kathleen Jackson and Courtney Hjaltman at the PUC as well as chair Thomas Gleeson.  Gov. Abbott announced her appointment Oct. 23. With that appointment one seat on the five-member panel remains vacant.

The PUC, which marks its 50th anniversary this year as a government agency, regulates the state’s electric, water, wastewater, and telecommunications utility industries and implements respective legislation and offers customer assistance in resolving consumer complaints.
